How to measure for Sew Trendy Gowns

Fitted Gowns

Measurements 1-4 will need to be taken into consideration for fitted gowns. Measure as stated above.

The most important measurements for fitted gowns are the ribcage, belly, and hips. If your event is within 5 weeks, you do not need to add room to grow. If your event is more than 5 weeks out, you may want to add 1-2" to allow space to grow.

After measuring (and adding inches if needed), check the sizing chart to see which area your ribcage, belly, and hips fit into. We want to ensure that the ribcage area will be tight, and the gown will stretch over the belly/hips.

If your ribcage falls into a much smaller size (as many mamas will gain the most weight in the hips and keep a small ribcage), you may want to do a custom fit with a smaller top and large body. Contact us for this option.

If you are a DDD-J cup in your bra size, Select the DDD-J cup option on the listing so we can add height to the top to provide sufficient coverage. If your bust measurement is larger than your hip measurement - contact us as we will need to help with sizing.

*NOTE We always suggest wearing a bra with our gowns as cups are not built in.

Empire Waist/Flowing Gowns

The most important measurements for empire waist are #1 (Bust) and #2 (Ribcage). Measure around your bust and ribcage, and match to the size chart below. If your event is within 5 weeks you do not need to add room to grow. If your event is more than 5 weeks out, you may want to add 1-2" to allow space to grow.

After measuring (and adding inches if needed), check the sizing chart to see which area your bust and ribcage fall into. We want to ensure that the ribcage area will be tight to support the weight of the gown.

If you are a DDD-J cup in your bra size, Select the DDD-J cup option on the listing so we can add height to the top to provide sufficient coverage. If your bust measurement is larger than your hip measurement, contact us as we will want to ensure proper sizing.

*NOTE We always suggest wearing a bra with our gowns as cups are not built in.
